Since the city was established, the leadership of Jincheng has always put science and education in the first place. With tragedies of paying more attention to education, the manage to enlarge investment on education helping Jincheng with an educational growth. Now in Jincheng there are 2964 schools of various kinds. In 2001, the founding of Jincheng Vacational College put the situation that there was no college in Jincheng to an end. This full time college centering on vocational education aims at training qualified technical talents that meet social demands. The uprising of a private school makes education of Jincheng more energetic. Si Fang School Complex with a capacity of over thirty thousand students may be the largest basic educational organization in our country. A tradition of culture educational accumulation has make local people cultivated. In Jincheng you can feel the strong influence of Chinese civilization everywhere. In the hands of an old lady, a piece of lifeless paper would turn into a lifelike butterfly. A clump of clay would become exquisite handiwork a black pottery from a craft’s man. Black Pottery, a long last ancient of folk arts and crafts of Jincheng has again come into life. Jincheng also enjoys a long history of cooking culture. This Tofu food sandwiched with bean drags, garlic paste and seasoning, not only taste delicious, but it is related to a legendary story as well. It was said that in the battle of Chang Pin, in the 3rd century BC, General Baqi of Qing buried 4000 surrounding soldiers of Zhao in Guokou village of Gaoping. To show their hatred for Baiqi, the locals invented such a snack food taking Tofu as his flesh and seasoning his brain. As time went on, the food was wide spread among the people and handed it down. Zhao Shuli, borned in native Qinshui county, was a great literary giant of China. He had written many realistic novels about the life of local peasants. His great works make him the originator of the potato school in Chiese literature. Zhao Shuli had profound love for Shangdang Opera in his life time. Well-presenting public his literary works, he also made this ancient opera international renown. For centuries the opera has cultivated both best performance and long lasting audience. Rural areas and communities in Jincheng see many organizations and societies playing a big role in local people’s weddings, funerals and so on.
The total area of Jincheng is about 9440 square kilometers. It cantains one city and four counties (Gaoping, Linchuan, Yangchemng and Qinshui). The total population is about 3 million. The temperature here is moderate and the four seasons are distinct. Its annual average temperature is from 5 ℃ to 11 ℃
